What is a "watch parts pen?"
Watch part pens, sometimes called "steampunk" style pens, are fully functional pens that have the barrels of the pen created from parts from non-working watches.
We start with the careful disassembly of the watch. Each part of the watch that is to be used is then cleaned and polished for increased brilliance. These parts are then gently heated and formed around a mandrel to fit perfectly around our pen tubes. After the parts are glued in place, they are cast in a crystal clear blend of resin, done under pressure to ensure a perfect casting.
Now the magic begins! The blank is secured in the lathe and, using specialized tools, is handcrafted individually by me into a masterpiece of useful art. Beautiful to behold, but designed for everyday use.
The pen blank undergoes our signature 19-step hand polishing, waxing and buffing process to produce a glass like finish that is both exquisite and durable. The pens are then equipped with an upgrade to a Schmidt rollerball refill – which we consider one of the best in the world. Fountain pens are available upon request. Below you will see our current inventory of watch parts pens. All the brand name watches that you see are made from that brand – no imitations! We also have additional dials as shown, that you can order for a custom pen.
Don’t see a watch dial that you want? Just contact us and let us know what kind of dial you would like and we would be glad to furnish you with a custom quotation.
Or do you have a non-working watch that has a sentimental or special significance? Instead of keeping it hidden in a drawer, we can turn that into a working heirloom that you can use everyday. Contact us for a quotation.
All of our pens come with a lifetime warranty (NOTE: WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO INK OR REFILLS).
